The Center will build a consortium among private industries, transportation agencies and universities with the mission to develop and promote market-ready and high payoff innovations for highway construction work zones to the transportation community. The missions of the Center are:

• to develop and update highway work zone safety audit guidelines by addressing the concerns and interests of all stakeholders, including transportation agencies, the driving public, and private industries (e.g., construction, insurance, and trucking);
  
• to discover/develop/identify/transfer new technologies and measures for improving work zone safety and reducing its negative impacts on private industries and national economy; and
  
• to provide work zone safety training and education to the transportation community and the public.
